Rick Altier has over 30 years of executive experience in the operations of major retail chains and in brokering commercial real estate deals for diverse industries. He brings to Caliber Commercial Brokerage a senior management background and proven hands-on ability in multi-functional roles, including strategic planning, administration, operations, marketing, advertising, merchandising, real estate site selection, lease negotiations, inventory control, distribution, and human resources.

Rick began his professional career in the family business, Altier and Sons Shoes, Inc., a well-known western New York chain with multi-million dollars in sales. As President, he was responsible for day-to-day store operations and all aspects of company management.

Rick then became Executive VP of a multi-store retail footwear chain, Super Shoe Stores, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway with locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.  At Super Shoe, he succeeded in expanding the chain of 20,000 square foot stores from 11 to 16 locations within his first two years, while also increasing sales from $15M to over $20M a year.

Next, Rick founded then led the development and operations of a men’s health practice, shaping his affinity for the needs of medical tenants in commercial real estate deals. His expertise grew with responsibility for site selection, project management, joint venture partnerships, and program acquisitions positioning business development for outpatient dialysis companies.

Rick simultaneously served retail by developing a successful new shoe outlet concept and related shoe e-commerce site, and sold both businesses in 2003.

Executive experience on both sides of the commercial real estate table, along the east coast and throughout New York State, has uniquely positioned Rick to specialize in site searches and property development, particularly for healthcare facilities.

Rick is a graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School and SUNY Geneseo, and is also the owner/operator of a local Little Caesars Pizza franchise, and a Mobil Mart gas station and convenience store.  Rick plays golf and hockey, and has six grandchildren.
